Rashid Timbilla joined the Global Shapers Community in 2017 through the Ottawa Hub and became a member of the Boston Hub in 2023.
Before his involvement with the Global Shapers, Rashid served as captain of the University of Ottawa’s varsity football team, where he also completed a Joint Honours degree in Political Science and Public Administration.
Deeply committed to community impact, Rashid has dedicated his time to mentoring at-risk youth, coaching collegiate football, and organizing fundraising initiatives in support of refugee communities.
In his professional capacity, Rashid brings a robust legal background with a focus on complex transactional work. He previously served as a judicial law clerk at the Federal Court of Canada to the Hon. Justice Russel W. Zinn. Today, he is a dual-qualified lawyer in New York and Ontario, specializing in Projects and Renewable Energy. Rashid has contributed to the drafting, advising, and negotiation of multi-billion dollar infrastructure projects and has co-led the negotiation of multi-million dollar deals across the United States and Asia-Pacific region. He is especially passionate about project development and commercial law in the context of global energy transition.
