Roland Scharrer

Partner & Managing Director, European Data & AI Leader, Kearney

Roland Scharrer is Partner and Managing Director at Kearney and serves as European Leader for Data & AI and Disruptive Technologies. He drives innovation and large-scale digital transformation across industries, helping organizations create value through responsible and effective adoption of artificial intelligence.

Previously, he was Group Chief Data, AI and Emerging Technologies Officer at AXA in Paris, leading global strategy and governance for data-driven transformation. Before that, he served as Chief Data Scientist at Capgemini Consulting (now Capgemini Invent) in Germany, advising major automotive and financial services clients on digital transformation.

Roland has been a Fellow and Visiting Research Scholar at Stanford University, collaborating with Stanford CODEX and Stanford HAI on AI in regulated industries. He has also been a Fellow at MIT Connection Science, where his work focused on the intersection of AI, trust, and digital ecosystems. He is currently an Executive PhD researcher at ESCP Business School, studying AI adoption and competitiveness.

Roland’s academic background spans natural sciences, computer science, statistics, social sciences, and business administration, and he advises venture capital funds, startups, and NGOs on technology and innovation strategy. He studied at JMU Würzburg, ESADE Barcelona, IMD Lausanne, University Utrecht, HPI Berlin, MIT Sloan, and UC Berkeley, holding an MS in Computer Engineering, an MS in Business Information Systems, and an Executive MBA.
