Head, Education Group, European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN)

PhD in Particle Physics, University of Mainz, Germany. Since 1980, research physicist, CERN; fundamental research on antimatter, leader of an experiment producing millions of antihydrogen atoms. Currently, Head of Education and Outreach, organizing visits and exhibitions for more than 100,000 visitors per year, and teacher courses aiming to innovate modern physics teaching at schools (by 2014, 7,500 teachers from 72 countries have been trained). Recipient of the Outreach Prize, European Physical Society (2003).
