Began career as an electrical engineer; held positions with Ontario Hydro in the areas of field work, design, construction and research, then responsible for nuclear safety and licensing at the Pickering and Bruce nuclear generating stations. Leader in both long-term fund investing and pension administration and advocacy. Former Member of the Board, Montreal Exchange. Then founded Phoenix Research and Trading, and, as Chief Executive Officer, was responsible for all aspects of the asset management firm, including investment and trading strategies, client relationships, risk management and regulatory compliance. Formerly with investment dealer Burns Fry (now BMO Nesbitt Burns). 2001, joined Ontario Teachers'; former Senior Vice-President, Fixed Income and Alternative Investments, overseeing $60 billion of Ontario Teachers' assets, including the policy mix in fixed income, credit investing, hedge fund activities, and fixed income investments in emerging markets; also contributed as Member of the Board, pension plan's commercial real estate subsidiary Cadillac Fairview Corporation; also Member, Cadillac's Audit Committee and chaired the Human Resources Committee; since January 2014, President and Chief Executive Officer. Member of the Corporate Advisory Board, The Learning Partnership; Member, Dean's Advisory Council, Schulich School of Business, York University.
