Sam is a leader in solving energy access and clean energy challenges facing Africa, having dedicated the past 10 years of his career to these causes. He founded and serves as CEO of a leading solar mini-grid company in Africa, PowerGen, which has offices in 4 countries and over 120 employees. He led the founding of the Africa Mini-grid Developers Association (funded by the Shell Foundation and World Bank), was selected for Forbes 30 under 30 for Energy, and is a commissioner on the UN Global Commission to End Energy Poverty. He has combined thought leadership with the actual hands-on work of solving the problems, having connected over 50,000 people to PowerGen's micro-utilities.
