Since 1992, with UN including: Country Director, UNODC Office, Bolivia; 1995, Director, Barbados-based UNODC Regional Office for the Caribbean; 1998, Representative of UNODC to Institutions of European Union; 1999-2003, with, UNODC Regional Centre, Bangkok; 2003-07, Head, UNODC Office, Colombia; 2007-10, Director General, UNICRI; since 2010, current position. Author of several books and articles.
