Sergio Ricardo Romani is the CEO South America Region at EY. He joined in 1983. He has experience serving clients in the oil and gas sector and in the retail and consumer products sector, the sector he led prior to being named Assurance Managing Partner. He has extensive experience auditing mainly International clients, including Archer Daniels Midland, Owens Illinois, McDonald’s, Sadia/BRF (local FPI), and Petrobras (local FPI). Sergio has a long track record as a leader of a professional services firm – member of the Brazilian Executive Committee during the last 12 years. He launched the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year (EOY) Program in Brazil in 1998, leading the program for five consecutive years thereafter. His prior experience was as SAR Assurance Managing Partner. He led the growth of the Assurance practice in Brazil during the last nine years; most recent relevant achievements include:

Audit
- Quadrupled the number of Assurance hours to 2.5 million hours (2.1 million in Audit)
- Increased the number of partners and EDs from 24 to 100
- Oversaw substantial growth in auditing public companies (from the #4 firm to the #1 firm)
- IFRS #1 branding
- Gross margin increase of five points during the last four years
- Developed the practice regionally
- Developed deep relationships with board and C-suite executives of our top audit clients

FIDS
- Led the practice’s strategy and development from the very beginning and is currently sized at more than 400k hours
- Grew practice from one partner to eight partners and three EDs
FIDS Brazil is #1 in the market by a wide margin
- Has been working with the team engaged on the Petrobras investigation, developing deep relationships with all parties involved and playing a pivotal role in fee and engagement letter negotiations
FAAS
- Developed the practice’s strategy and development from the very beginning - currently sized close to 100k hours with four partners and two EDs
