Shawn Maher serves as EY’s Global Vice Chair – Public Policy. In this role, he is responsible for developing and advancing EY’s strategy with respect to public policy, legislative, and regulatory matters. He leads the EY Global Public Policy team, which engages with a broad range of stakeholders around the world, contributes to policy debates, and provides insights and analysis regarding a range of policy issues.

Previously, Maher served as the Managing Director and Head of U.S. Regulatory and Government Affairs at the Royal Bank of Canada, where he was responsible for developing and executing the bank’s U.S. regulatory and legislative strategy. Prior to that, he served in the Obama Administration as Deputy Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs and Senate Liaison. He also served in multiple roles in the U.S. Senate, including as Staff Director and General Counsel of the Senate Banking Committee.
Maher holds a J.D. degree from the New York University School of Law and a B.A. degree in Social Studies from Harvard College.
