As a data scientist with 6+ years of community service experience, Smruthi is a young change-maker. She believes and works towards global educational equity, civic empowerment and environment welfare. She has been a teacher with Teach for India, YLAC Fellow for a Member of Parliament's Office, podcast guest and has represented her hub at the World Economic Forum Headquarters in Geneva.
She has worked with Teach for India (TFI), a part of the Teach for All Network which works to expand global educational accessibility. During her tenure as a full-time teacher at a Government school in Chennai, she handled over 60 underprivileged students and trained them academically and led them to participate in the biggest student centric event in the country.
Her professional interests/expertise include performing big data analysis for Fortune 50 companies and business strategy development. She is a YLAC Policy in Action Fellow 2020 for Young Leaders for Active Citizenship (YLAC) forum, founded by Harvard and Oxford alumni where she worked on a project for a member of the parliament. She takes active interest in civic projects and had worked actively in Chennai hub's 'Election Promises' website that garnered over 12 million plus viewers and acted as an integral part of the voting decisions of the state's citizens.
She is also a sustainability enthusiast who follows a low-waste lifestyle. Being a trained classical dancer for over 15 years, she is equally passionate about performing arts and was the coordinator for SPICMACAY (Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) in her university.
