Global Shaper, Pune Hub

Suraj is environmentalist by passion and professionally he is working in a leading Private Bank of India. Coming from a small town in rural India, he was always taught to be sensitive to the effects he has on the surrounding environment and eco-system. Over the years, as he further realized the devastating effect of climate change in our communities, he tried to bring change through various projects in this space and even helped found an organization (Do Save Foundation) to further his work.

In Global Shapers Community, he co-lead Project Zero Waste, where they are helping an educational campus move towards Zero Waste and have already impacted 5000+ participants cumulatively through workshops.

Suraj understands the need for a Blood and Platelets donation and he is a regular platelet donor since 2016. Suraj contributed in government's drive for afforestation where he has planted 4700+ trees in the last 4 years with the help of NSS students & volunteers. Looking at the city traffic & road safety issue, he made a video named "Accelerate the Ambulance" and shared it on YouTube to create awareness about how to give way to ambulance in city traffic. Apart from this, he is helping Pune traffic police and municipal corporation (local government) during the festival season & helping in creating awareness about the local issues. Every year on Pedestrian Day (2nd October), he is distributing appreciation cards to the riders/drivers who are following traffic rules and regulations.
