Tina Y. Lo

Chairman, O-Bank

Ms. Tina Y. Lo is Chairman of O-Bank, the first and only native digital bank in Taiwan. Prior to 2017, the Bank was formerly known as Industrial Bank of Taiwan (IBT) with a focus of providing the best solutions and one-stop shop of financial services to its mainly corporate clientele. Since then, the Bank has transformed to a commercial bank that is committed to financial inclusion through the use of digital technologies and innovations. As Chairman, Ms. Lo presided over the monumental transformation process that involved numerous key strategic and structural decisions. Moreover, it is Ms. Lo’s core belief that businesses should be used as a force for good, and as a result she spearheaded O-Bank’s efforts in becoming the first publicly listed certified B Corporation and the first B Corp financial institution in Taiwan. Prior to her appointment as Chairman, Ms. Lo served as Managing Director and Chief Strategy Officer of IBT, during which she shaped and implemented the Bank’s Greater China and global business strategies, and supervised the overall business administration among its subsidiaries. Previously, as the first Chief Executive of IBT’s Hong Kong Branch, she successfully led the Bank’s effort to grow and expand beyond Taiwan. In addition to banking and finance, Ms. Lo has extensive experience in venture capital. During her tenure as President of IBT Management Corporation, she was responsible for raising and managing large-size venture capital funds.

Ms. Lo is not only a financier, but also an entrepreneur who understands the ins and outs of starting up new ventures, and especially appreciates the positive influences brought about by entrepreneurship. Before joining IBT Group, she co-founded Intumit, Inc., a Taiwanese software company at the forefront of knowledge management. Furthermore, she has been a devoted advocate for young entrepreneurs, establishing a partnership between IBT Group and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to launch the renowned WeWin Entrepreneurship Competition in Taiwan, which has helped more than 5,000 young entrepreneurs establish their own businesses.

Ms. Lo was selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in 2011, the first ever Taiwanese person to receive this international distinction. In 2013, she was also awarded the prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship (EF). Since 2016, by the appointment of Taiwan’s President, she has been a member of APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) for Chinese Taipei and co-chairs the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Entrepreneurship Working Group at ABAC.
