Tulsi Lathia

Global Shaper, Christchurch Hub

At 21, Tulsi is passionate about all things business and a strong advocate for bridging the cultural gap in New Zealand. As a PwC scholarship recipient, she is currently studying towards a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Economics and Finance with a vision to fuel sustainable business development with innovation.

Tulsi has represented New Zealand at the Ivy League Model United Nations Conference in the United States, represented India at the First Lego League in Canada, and was one of twelve Kiwi students selected to visit Vietnam to explore business opportunities in Southeast Asia. She is a National Girlboss Award recipient and was recognized as one of 25 up-and-coming young women in New Zealand on the inaugural Y25 list.

In high school, Tulsi and her team had an idea to help bridge the 'cultural gap' in New Zealand. Bringing her own experience as a migrant to the table and knowing that food brings people together, Tulsi and her teammates started a project to publish a multicultural cookbook, "Spoonful of Spice", which includes recipes and personal stories from refugees and migrants. 100% of the profits were donated to the Christchurch Refugee Resettlement Centre.

Tulsi has also been involved in several global innovation challenges, notably, she led the winning team of the inaugural Paradigm Challenge (an international innovation challenge) that invented a fire safety device (DeTech) and was rewarded with $20,000USD.

Since 2018, Tulsi has been involved in her family's ethnic retail business where she manages a range of areas including marketing, administration, finance/legal requirements, and food safety compliance. In 2021, she interned at PwC in Auckland as an Experience Consulting Intern. In 2023, she will be joining Deloitte's Christchurch team as a Business Transformation and Strategy graduate consultant.
