Research group studies properties of ultracold atomic matter. Recipient of awards: Fritz London Prize in Low Temperature Physics (1999); Benjamin Franklin Medal in Physics (2000); Nobel Prize in Physics (2001) for observation of Bose-Einstein condensation in a gas in 1995; Humboldt research award (2009).
