Ylva Hansdotter

PhD Candidate in Virtual Reality for Impact, University College Dublin

Ylva Hansdotter is a PhD Candidate at UCD, School of mechanical and materials engineering, and she focuses her research on the use of positive and immersive storytelling to stimulate social change. Ylva’s work background is mostly from the private sector; most recently as a VR executive at HTC Vive where she also directed a program to support VR-experiences with positive effect towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (https://vrforimpact.com/) . Prior to that, she was a partner at a global management-consulting firm, and she has 20 years’ experience in strategy- and business development, mainly within IT / Tech, Media, Retail, Energy, Service and Finance. She is currently a board member of two social enterprises; ‘Good Cause Foundation’ and ‘Social Entrepreneurship Forum’, where she also serves as a mentor to social entrepreneurs in finding sustainable business models to create thriving social businesses. Prior studies include; MSc in Computer Science and BSc in Behavioral Science from the University of Stockholm, Certificate of Global Management from INSEAD and Strategy program at Harvard Business School.
