Geneva, Switzerland, 7 August 2014 – Media accreditation is now open for the World Economic Forum Special Meeting on Unlocking Resources for Regional Development, which will take place in Istanbul, Turkey, on 28-29 September 2014. The meeting will focus on the region’s efforts to maintain positive economic growth while boosting the diversification of its economies and enhancing trade and investment in human capital.

The meeting will highlight Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia and their interrelationships, bringing together 500 leaders from government, business, media and civil society from the region. In light of the global economic context, participants will explore how governments and business leaders can develop and deliver new models for driving innovation and economic agility in this region.

Discussions will focus on four sub-themes:

  • Turkey’s vision and future, particularly in regard to its G20 leadership
  • Shifting energy dynamics across the region
  • The future of infrastructure, physical and digital
  • Entrepreneurial models that increase inclusive growth

“As economic, political and social issues become more and more interconnected, there is an ever-greater need to facilitate trust-based dialogue to respond to the aspirations of citizens in Europe, MENA and Eurasia,” said Nicholas Davis, Director and Head of Europe, World Economic Forum.

The deadline for online media accreditation (www.weforummedia.org) is 10 September. Accreditation is strictly limited and no accreditation will be granted on site.
