A SUCCESSFUL CV

THE CURRENT SITUATION IN LOME (TOGO)

In Lome, the Capital of Togo, youth unemployment is rising yearly. This situation is due to a lack of job opportunities in the area, but also because of lack of support and mentoring in joining the limited labour market. Often, the local CVs companies receive are not attractive enough. Candidates might have the required skills, but they don’t market themselves well. Thus, the companies end up hiring from abroad. It is evident, that the young generation is not given adequate advice as well as guidance regarding their CV presentation and/or how to prepare for job interviews.

GLOBAL SHAPERS LOME IN ACTION

In light of this issue, and following one of our objectives, Global Shapers Lome (GSL) is developing an education project to help the youth. The project, called “A SUCCESSFUL CV”, will consist in GSL helping the students who are about to graduate, new graduates, or graduates that have been in the job market for a while. GSL will conduct sessions with objectives to help them improve their CV, and to share best practices in resume writing or interviews techniques. This project will also be the opportunity for GSL to promote employment in unexplored and needed areas, as well as to encourage youth entrepreneurship.
