Project Gal

Project Gal was founded in 2017 by Global Shaper Maya Azulay, in memory of her brother, First Sergeant Gal Azulay, who fell during operational activity in 2009. Over the years, Project Gal has impacted hundreds of youths from Israel’s geographic periphery, providing them with the tools to aim high and realize their potential.

Through hi-tech hackathons, "internship" days, and lectures, students acquire valuable skills such as startup ideation, presentation, and website building, in collaboration with tech industry mentors. Project Gal’s goal is to show these young people that the high-tech world is within reach and to inspire them to dream big.

As an initiative of Global Shapers, a World Economic Forum organization, Project Gal is supported by partners such as ‘Educating for Excellence’ and ‘Monday.’

In 2024, Project Gal worked with 100 students, ages 12–16, across Jaffa, Carmel, Or Yehuda, Ramle, and Be’er Sheva.
