Global Shapers Peshawar Hub had partnered with Helping Youth Pakistan, founded by Shahid Ali khan, a newly recruited Shaper. This youth lead volunteer organization is based in Peshawar and has been engaging young people in volunteerism to help the underprivileged sections of our society since 2015 in their flagship project named Shan-e-Ramzan.
Shan-e-Ramazan was three phase project that aims to help the underprivileged during the month of Ramadan, a month of fasting, reflection and sacrificing observed by Muslims from around the world. The three phases included:
The goal of this project was to empathize with the underprivileged sections of society and help them ease their problems through sharing with generosity. The project aimed to engage people from the community to help the needy in improving their overall wellbeing but particularly focusing on increasing food security.
The project goal involved all layers of society by collecting funds from the general public, engaging passionate young people in providing volunteer services and finally facilitating the marginalized sections of this community, in an effort to embody the essence of Ramadan.
The project facilitated nearly 1,850 families with Ramadan food ration and provided iftaar food packs to more than 45,000 people in Peshawar since 2015.
