Team Düsseldorf

The Dusseldorf Hub project “Team Düsseldorf” helps young men facing difficult life situations re-integrate into society through sports. Thanks to multi-stakeholder support, the team regularly participates in the German Street Football Championships. The tournament has led to inspiring results starting with the team finishing in second-place during their first participation in 2013. A year after that, Marcel – one of the players in the team – was selected for the German national team of homeless players and participated in the Homeless World Cup in Chile. Since then, more players from Team Düsseldorf have received the same honour. For many of them, training with the team and participating in the tournaments have been milestones on their way back to a regular life, enabling them to leave behind struggles from their past life.
