The Toward Resilience project creates economic opportunities for skilled individuals to start micro-business and creates employment for youth who could be victims of insurgent operations. The Toward Resilience project creates an investment cycle, where the first investment is repaid once the micro-business is sustainable. By investing in micro-businesses that increase employment in rural communities, Toward Resilience is giving more opportunities to the most underrepresented and underprivileged segment of Kabul, encouraging them not to join insurgent groups as a means for survival. The “invested” then “pay-back” once their micro-business is successful and sustainable. That way, the impact can be multiplied.
