The Toward Resilience project created economic opportunities for skilled individuals to start micro-business and created employment for youth who could be victims of insurgent operations. The Toward Resilience project created an investment cycle, where the first investment was repaid once the micro-business was sustainable. By investing in micro-businesses that increase employment in rural communities, Toward Resilience gave more opportunities to the most underrepresented and underprivileged segment of Kabul, encouraging them not to join insurgent groups as a means for survival. The “invested” then “pay-back” once their micro-business is successful and sustainable. That way, the impact can be multiplied.
