Liberating the Written Word at the Forum
Trip Adler is guest blogging for the Forum. He is Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Scribd, USA and a Technology Pioneer. He is attending the Annual Meeting in Davos. You can follow him on Twitter @tripadler.
Being included among the 2011 Tech Pioneer Awards has been an incredible honor.
But perhaps the biggest reward has been the opportunity to work with the World Econonic Forum to share the dialogue of the Annual Meeting with millions of readers on Scribd.
Earlier this week, WEF began sharing conference highlights with the more than 60 million monthly readers on Scribd in its virtual document centre. Reports presented throughout the week at Davos can now be found (http://www.scribd.com/worldeconomicforum) and spread virally on Scribd, Facebook and Twitter. I’m pretty proud that in the click of an upload, the written word of the globe’s most respected thinkers can reach a massive global audience.
This year, more than ever, the debate over the transparency of the web has become vital. I believe we’ve just scratched the surface of interesting and entertaining content indexed on the web. Scribd is committed to providing a platform and audience for all the world’s written content–including presentations that until now has only been shared with a few hundred people gathered in Davos.
The challenges of the global economy are immense, but so is our capability to understand and connect with one another. I see no greater opportunity for the web than to share the information and education I have so richly received with the world at large.
Happy reading.
