Social Entrepreneurs: from the Middle East to Davos

26 Social Entrepreneurs from around the globe will be full participants and represent the “voice from the ground” at the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters.

NaifMutawa Naif Al Mutawa –Teshkeel Media Group – Kuwait
The Teshkeel Media Group creates positive role models for children through its superheroes, THE 99, who work together to improve the world. Its storylines promote diversity, multiculturalism, personal responsibility and accountability. THE 99 comics have been licensed in eight languages with editions in Indonesia, Turkey, France, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. THE 99 Village theme park –the first of six –has opened in Jahra, Kuwait, and a global animation project co-produced with media giant Endemol is poised to hit the airwaves in 2011.

INJAZ has reached over 700,000 Arab youth in 13 countries in the Middle East and North Africa since the start of its work in 1999. The organization works with approximately 250,000 students annually through programmes developing financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship skills in youth from elementary school through university. INJAZ is the first organization in the region to forge public-private partnerships, bringing together ministries of education and leading corporations to reach youth before they join the growing ranks of the unemployed.
