Alexa Firmenich

Founder & Director, Naia Trust

As an investor, philanthropist and facilitator focused on climate and biodiversity, I work on strategies that repair our planet's ecologies.

I am director and founder of the investment office Naia Trust, which directs capital on behalf of nature and shifts worldviews towards interconnection with all life. Current areas of investment and research include regenerative agriculture, bioeconomies, earth jurisprudence, ecosystem restoration, ecological pedagogy, consciousness change, and scientific research that illuminates life's relational processes. More at www.naiatrust.com.

I am currently a board member at the Crowther Lab, and co-directed SEED Biocomplexity at the Crowther Lab at ETH University in Zurich, developing the world's most comprehensive assessment of biodiversity for any location on the planet. Our goal is to steer financial and political systems into a holistic relationship with the living world and embed the true value of nature into the economy.

As a writer, photographer and wilderness guide, I bring people into direct contact with nature. In my role as an Associate at Leaders’ Quest and through the company I founded in Mexico, Atlas Unbound, I develop and lead multi-day immersive learning journeys for global corporations and decision-makers. These journeys embody the thesis that we learn most rapidly and durably through direct experience, and that visceral connection is a remedy to our systemic alienation from the world. As a means to inspire a greater number of people to learn and participate in these areas, I started the podcast and open source database Lifeworlds. Here, I ask "How can we learn to see the world through the eyes and mind of nature? How do we better serve the earth and other humans when we inhabit multiple perspectives?". More at www.lifeworld.earth.

I am trained in facilitation methodologies such as Theory U, Art of Hosting, 3 Horizons, The Work that Reconnects, Outward Bound, Unschool Design, EGP, IDEO Storytelling, as well as being a Regenesis Regenerative Practitioner and Biomimicry Institute alumni.
