David Homfray

Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder, Space Solar

David Homfray has worked in various innovation and technology development roles for over two decades. He has contributed to cutting-edge research within academia (functional brain imaging and neuroscience at the University of Oxford), in the field of fusion research at the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority and is now focussed on the development and commercialisation of Space-Based Solar Power as CTO of Space Solar. David is currently developing the technical programme and structures needed to make the UK a world leader in Space-Based Solar Power, a technology needed for our fossil-free future.

During his time in fusion, he had the honour of being an Engineer in Charge of JET, the world's largest operational fusion experiment, and part of the core team that created the initial STEP (Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production) strategy, a world-leading UK Government funded programme aiming to commercialise fusion power.

He is both a Chartered Physicist and Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and the British Interplanetary Society.
