Fernando J. Gómez

Head, Future of Materials; Member of the Executive Committee, World Economic Forum

Fernando is the Head of the Future of Materials program in the Center for Energy and Materials of the World Economic Forum. He leads a team advancing initiatives focusing on the sustainability, accessibility and productivity of materials systems in our economy. Fernando’s leadership roles at the Forum include the Resource Systems and Resilience program and the materials industries. Before joining the Forum in 2010, Fernando in the Chemicals group of AkzoNobel (now Nouryon) in technical development and venture relations.

Fernando is experienced in structuring partnerships and has performed in corporate innovation and technology strategy. He received his Chemistry degree from Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia, earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Florida, and completed post-doctoral work at Stanford University.
