Francesco Chiarini is the VP CISO in Residence within the Transformation Team at Rubrik, where he helps global enterprises and executives bridge the gap between compliance mandates and verifiable operational and cyber resilience. He has been inducted in the ISSA Hall of Fame and is the founder and Chair of the ISSA.org Cyber Resilience Special Interest Group, a global community encompassing nearly 2,500 professionals, and the creator of the worldwide Cyber Resilience Awareness Day.
Prior to joining Rubrik, Francesco led global cyber resilience strategy for a major pharmaceutical organization Sandoz, served at Standard Chartered Bank as head of cyber resilience and PepsiCo. At PepsiCo, he commanded one of the two global Cyber Fusion Centers (Poland), directing global incident response, red teaming, adversary emulation, and advanced resilience engineering. With over 20 years of deep expertise across IT operations and information security, Francesco has specialized since the inception of NIST SP 800-160 in equipping organizations to withstand, absorb, and recover from sophisticated multi-faceted attacks by advanced persistent threats (APTs).
A highly sought-after global speaker, Francesco has delivered keynotes and technical insights to elite international audiences, including the United Nations, MITRE, FS-ISAC, ISACA, ISSA, FIRST, Microsoft, the London Stock Exchange, Asia Pacific CERT, and Africa CERT. He has co-authored multiple influential research papers alongside global bodies, including the World Economic Forum ('The Cyber Resilience Index: Advancing Organizational Cyber Resilience'), ASIFMA ('Data Vaulting Considerations for Improving Data Recovery'), and Eurocontrol ('Incident Timing Metrics: Reporting Cyber Risk to Boards').
Grounded in real-world leadership, Francesco has built elite, vetted resilience programs reviewed favorably by experts within the US CISA cyber resilience task force, and is credited with coining the 'High Value Target' (HVT) asset taxonomy framework to look at infrastructure through an adversarial lens. He was awarded the 2021 Volunteer of the Year by ISSA.org, won the Global Innovation Award from the US Consumer Brands Association among Fortune-100 companies, and founded the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Special Interest Group at FIRST.org.
