Why we must urgently address climate issues to secure global peace
Why we must increase our global efforts to reach net-zero and advance the transition of the economy into a more inclusive, fairer climate-first economy.
Grégoire Roos is currently serving as Head of Political Dialogue and Policy Innovation at the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt, supervising strategic engagement with public and international organisations and coordinating the Foundation´s thought leadership in the geopolitics of energy.
Prior to joining the BMW Foundation, Mr. Roos worked as a geopolitical analyst (UNDP Regional Service Centre in Africa and in the financial industry), focusing on public-private cooperation for economic growth, global trends and their impact on markets and society. This covered, amongst others, the implications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution for the financial industry and global trade, its impact on global security and regional cooperation, and its repercussions on climate change mitigation strategies.
Committed to advancing cross-generational dialogue, Mr. Roos has been conducting interviews with personalities from politics (Nobel laureates Lech Walesa and Frederik de Klerk), defence (former NATO SACEUR Adm. James Stavridis), the academia (Niall Ferguson and Martha Nussbaum) and science (Jane Goodall) for the HuffPost and the St. Gallen Symposium.
Mr. Roos is a Founding Board Member of Conclave Europe 2040, a new initiative of a group of a dozen European leaders to identify and help address the most pressing geopolitical challenges that Europe will face by 2040 but that do not yet rank as political priorities in Europe. The initiative has been developing under the patronage of Portugal’s Prime Minister and now President of the European Council António Costa.
Mr. Roos sits on the Board of Trustees of International Arts and Artists, a Washington-DC-based non-profit organisation dedicated to increasing cross-cultural understanding and exposure to the arts internationally, and on the advisory committee of the Delphi Economic Forum.
A David Rockefeller Fellow of the Trilateral Commission, Mr Roos is also a reserve officer in the French Navy, a fellow of the Atlantic Council´s European Leadership Accelerator, and is a member of the World Economic Forum´s High-Level Group on European Strategic Interdependence as well as the Global Shapers Community.
