1987, PhD, Computer Science, Keio University. Specialist in computer science, computer network and computer communication. 1984, developed Japan University UNIX Network; 1988, established, WIDE Project. Currently, founder of research and development of computer networks. Former Member: Internet Architecture Board (IAB); Board of Trustees, Internet Society (ISOC); Board of Directors, Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Special Advisor to the Cabinet, Advisor to the Digital Agency. Chairs and serves on many other governmental committees; active in numerous international scientific associations. Recipient of awards: Jonathan B. Postel Service Award (2005); Funai Achievement Award (2007); IEEE Internet Award (2011); Okawa Prize (2011); inducted into Internet Hall of Fame (2013); the Knight of the Legion of Honor by the French Government (2019).
