
Trust, technology and leadership key to winning the STEM talent race
The global race for STEM talent is intense and organizations must adapt by developing leadership that inspires not just manages, or they risk irrelevance.
Sarah Mason is the Chief People Officer at SThree, where she leads the global People function, encompassing performance, reward, DEI, learning and development, employee experience, ESG, talent acquisition frameworks, HR business partnering, and Property services. Rejoining SThree in 2023, she brought with her a wealth of experience from her previous tenure with the company from 1998 to 2008, during which she held various sales and senior HR roles.
With over 20 years in the recruitment industry, Sarah has held senior HR positions at international staffing firms and was previously the Chief People Officer at Foxtons, a leading UK estate agency. Her extensive HR expertise and deep knowledge of psychology enable her to drive effectiveness, engagement, and positive outcomes within organizations.
Under Sarah's leadership, SThree has significantly advanced its People strategy over the past 12-18 months, aligning it with key commercial objectives to enhance productivity, improve retention, and maintain top-quartile employee engagement. Her efforts have led to SThree's notable placement at 45th in the FTSE250 list for the FTSE Women Leaders Review 2024, the highest ranking for a staffing firm, highlighting the measurable impact of her DEI strategies and inclusive working practices.
Sarah also oversees the Elevate Careers programme, a social impact initiative aimed at helping individuals from diverse backgrounds overcome barriers to STEM careers. In 2023, SThree partnered with 39 clients, positively impacting 2,754 career paths.
Beyond her role at SThree, Sarah is a recognized thought leader in HR and recruitment. She regularly speaks at conferences, features on podcasts, and leads roundtable events. Recently named in HR Magazine’s top 20 HR Most Influential for 2024, Sarah is also a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and a Fellow of the RSA. Her academic credentials include a BSc in Psychology, MSc in Organisational Change, and diplomas in employment law and corporate governance. She is also a certified business psychologist by the Association of Business Psychology.
Sarah actively supports the CIPD’s Aspiring HR Director programme and mentors the next wave of leaders in her HR network, demonstrating her commitment to developing future talent.
