In his capacity as Port of Antwerp-Bruges’ global partnerships director, Tom Monballiu is member of the Port Management Team and a senior advisor to the CEO and the executive committee on strategic international and geopolitical affairs. He leads the international networks division, focusing on diplomatic and trade networks and has a broad knowledge on security, sustainability and energy challenges.
Prior to this position he was Port of Antwerp-Bruges’ international community relations manager and deputy port ambassador. Tom’s professional background includes external relations and communications positions at NATO Headquarters Brussels, the Belgian Ministry of Defense and the Belgian Parliament. Following his communication science studies he gained behind the scenes experience in Belgian audiovisual media as editor, researcher and reporter. Tom is also the partner of Annik with whom he has two adult sons.
