Xu Qinyi

Assistant Professor, School of International Studies, Peking University

Dr. Qinyi Xu is Assistant Professor at the School of International Studies, Peking University. She’s also the Researcher at Institute of Carbon Neutrality and Director of Strategic Planning and Cooperation at PKU Analytics Lab for Global Risk Politics, Advisor for the PKU- SciencesPo dual degree program at Peking University.

Now, she also plays the role as the negotiator with Chinese delegation in UNFCCC meetings. For COP28, she mainly participated in the negotiation work for gender and response measure issues. She is also the secretary- general for the founding Carbon Neutrality and Ecological Security Committee at the China Food and Drug Corporation Quality and Safety Promotion Association.

Before joining Peking University, Dr. Qinyi Xu served as Research Associate at the Centre for Resilience and Sustainable Development (CRSD) and Researcher at the Cambridge Centre for Environment, Energy and Natural Resource Governance (C-EENRG), University of Cambridge. Her research spans global climate governance, environmental & energy security and economics to international political economy (global trade politics and governance). She has published widely in SCI/SSCI journals, with a special focus on security and risks, role conflicts, climate leadership and trade-environment nexus in climate governance.
