4 Volunteers Are Spending A Year In A Simulated Mars Base

The crew will live in a 158 m2 habitat called Mars Dune Alpha. Located in NASA's Johnson Space Center, in Houston, Texas. It contains all the facilities they would need on Mars from a kitchen and an exercise room to labs and areas for growing crops. NASA is exploring whether this method could be used on Mars using Martian soil and dust as building materials. The volunteers will be confined to the base for the whole year. Their experience will be as close to the real thing as possible.
