Air pollution speeds up lung ageing diseases, scientists have shown
The world’s new air quality guidelines may be not sufficient to keep us healthy. Scientists looked at health data for 265,000 people in the UK. All participants were free from chronic lung diseases. Researchers tracked them over 12 years. Those who lived in more polluted areas were more likely to contract a chronic lung disease and develop multiple lung diseases. They also stood a greater chance of dying from lung problems.
