It was the forgotten idea of a Nobel-winning scientist. Now, Emilie Bodoin is turning it into reality. The Founder and CEO of Pure Lithium has revived the ‘lithium metal battery’ – an alternative to the lithium-ion batteries we know from electric vehicles, and a breakthrough that could make batteries lighter, safer and more efficient – all while reducing dependence on critical mineral supply chains. If successful, the technology could also help more countries manufacture batteries closer to home, strengthening energy security and supporting the transition to cleaner energy. Pure Lithium is a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer, part of a community of start-ups which are developing cutting-edge technologies with the potential to improve the world.
