Demolishing buildings is bad for the environment. Deconstructing them is better

When a building is demolished, many of its high-quality materials are downcycled, crushed or processed into lower-quality materials. These end up in roads or foundations or even in landfill. Increasingly, builders are reimagining buildings as material banks, filled with reusable components. By dismantling them carefully, construction companies can preserve the value of these elements.
