England Is Aiming To Beat HIV By 2030

England wants to be the first country in the world to eradicate the virus. The country's National Health Service has signed a series of deals to make life-saving drugs available across the country. This includes novel drugs such as cabotegravir and rilpivirine, the first long-acting injection for HIV which only needs to be taken every 2 months. England currently has 87,000 people being treated for HIV and 61,000 receiving preventative treatment. The idea is that successful treatment will keep the viral load in the blood so low that it’s impossible to pass on the disease.
