Does banning smartphones in schools help or hinder students?

Several Norwegian school districts have banned smartphones in recent years, so a study compared them with schools where phones are allowed. Girls at phone-free schools made almost 60% fewer visits to mental health specialists and 22% fewer mental health-related visits to their doctor. Girls at these schools also saw an improvement in their grades. Boys didn’t see these improvements to either their mental health or schoolwork.
