Can these tech classes transform school?

This video is part of: Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Supply Chains

The world of work is changing, but many school systems face challenges adapting to the needs of today’s learners. They’re still prioritizing written test scores over problem-solving, and recall over relationship skills. An unprecedented collaboration between New York State, teachers’ unions, and Micron aims to change all that - by giving kids access to the technical knowhow they need (and want) to learn. New York has launched a 3-year pilot across 10 schools that helps pupils practise the vital STEM skills they’ll need to enter a future career in manufacturing or technology. You can hear from a host of students - as well as AFT President Randi Weingarten - in this video. Every region will need its own approach, but New York’s pilot shows how collaboration can help education systems prepare for the future.
