The World Bank ranked cities by ‘skyscraperness’. The highest aren’t what you might expect
The World Bank collected data on buildings above 55 metres worldwide to calculate a region’s ‘skyscraperness’ which is how much cities build upwards, given their income and population levels. The highest-ranking spots were not North America or China but South America, Eastern Europe and South-East Asia, which ‘overbuild’ relative to their economic level.
