Manufacturing prosthetic limbs is a challenging process which can take weeks of moulding, fitting and adjustments. And for growing children, this all needs to be repeated several times. Non-profit organization 3DP4ME is upending this paradigm using 3D printing and digital scanning technology. Its approach makes prosthetic limb manufacturing easier, faster and more affordable, bringing hope and mobility to patients in conflict zones who may otherwise be unable to access the support they need. Here’s how it works.
