The UK has become the first G20 country to halve greenhouse gas emissions

Between 1990 and 2022, UK emissions fell by 50% at the same time, its economy grew by 79%. In that time, the UK transformed its energy mix. Back in 2012, renewables contributed just 7% of the UK’s energy. Today, they supply over a third.
