UNESCO wants schools to ban phones. Here’s what the experts say

The UN agency wants to see smartphones kept out of school to prevent distraction in the classroom and cyberbullying. It says too much screen time can hamper learning. UNESCO says tech is important in education, but that it should serve a ‘human-centred vision’ based on real interaction. Smartphones have rapidly become ubiquitous in schools. One study from Ghana, Malawi and South Africa showed students use phones much more than data suggests.
