Young adults are unhappier than their parents, for the first time in generations

This video is part of: Centre for Health and Healthcare

For generations, life’s happiness curve has looked the same. People were happiest as young adults, became progressively less happy until the age of 50, and then began to grow happier again. But that’s no longer the case, according to a new study. Today, people are unhappiest as young adults, and grow happier as they age. What’s behind this reversal? Poor mental health costs 12 billion workdays every year. The Forum’s Healthy Workplaces initiative can help employers build healthier, happier workplaces, making the business case for investing in mental health initiatives at work.
