As the Chief Executive Officer, Shireen leads the dynamic and innovative team behind Edraak, the Arab world’s leading online learning platform. She has led on numerous multi-million dollar projects from ideation to implementation; secured long-term strategic partnerships with governments and organizations across the globe; and developed trailblazing solutions to the many challenges facing the region from unemployment to refugee education. Today, Edraak reaches more than four million learners across the Arab world – at a phenomenal growth rate by any standard. More recently Shireen contributed to developing Jordan’s emergency education response plan for COVID-19 and also led Edraak’s expansion into the K-12 space, ensuring free, high quality Arabic content is available to every child and school in the region.
Shireen advises multiple learning institutions such as The SDG Academy of The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and The Carey Institute for Global Good
Prior to joining Edraak, Shireen worked on several economic development and youth employment programs. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Technology, Innovation and Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She holds a B.A. degree in International and Human Resources with minors in Communications and French from Manhattanville College, USA. She is also a Certified Instructional Designer from the Association for Talent Development and holds several certificates from Harvard University and the GeorgetownX Institute of Georgetown University.
