RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group - CESC in the power sector - has been generating power since 1899 in Calcutta and has an investment programme of more than Rs 35 billion, which will raise generating capacity to 7,000 MW in the next six years. Its subsidiaries include Phillips Carbon Black, the world's second fastest-growing carbon black company and India's largest; Spencer's, a pioneer in India retailing; Saregama India, which has the largest repertoire of recorded music in India; and Harrisons Malayalam, a producer of natural rubber and tea.
