Cameron Halliday is co-founder and CEO of Mantel, a leading provider of energy-efficient and cost-effective carbon capture for heavy industry backed by Shell Ventures, bp Ventures, and Eni Next. Originally from the UK, Cameron studied chemical engineering at Loughborough University and completed MIT’s PhDCEP program, where he co-invented Mantel’s core technology with Professor Alan Hatton and Takuya Harada. He later earned an MBA from MIT Sloan and co-founded Mantel with Sean Robertson and Danielle Colson. Recent media and thought leadership include: Cam was featured on the MCJ podcast, where he discusses the cost and efficiency limitations of traditional carbon capture systems and what is required to make CCS economically viable at scale. In a recent Energi Media video interview, Cameron explains why legacy systems struggle to achieve cost competitiveness and how energy recovery fundamentally changes total system economics. Mantel’s recently-announced commercial-scale FEED study in central-western Canada, was covered by The Globe and Mail, CBC, Chemical Engineering, Hart Energy, Carbon Herald, and others. Mantel’s $30 million Series A, led by Shell Ventures with participation from Eni and others, was covered by Reuters as a “step change” in carbon capture costs.
