Chen Xu

President and Member of the Board, China Southern Power Grid Lancang-Mekong International

Chen Xu is President and a Board Member of China Southern Power Grid Lancang-Mekong International Co., Ltd. (CSG-LMI). He is responsible for the company’s international business across 12 countries in Southeast Asia and Bangladesh. He focuses on cross-border power grid interconnection and regional power market development.

Before joining CSG-LMI, Chen Xu served for many years at the headquarters of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd. (CSG), where he worked on strategic planning, power grid planning and corporate development management. He held senior positions including Director of the Planning Division and Deputy General Manager of the Strategy and Planning Department, gaining extensive experience in power system planning, corporate strategy, regional power market development and international energy cooperation.

Chen Xu graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University with a degree in Power Systems and Automation. He later obtained a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Power Systems and Automation from South China University of Technology.

He also led the planning of major HVDC transmission projects, including the Kunliulong ±800 kV UHV Multi-Terminal VSC-HVDC Transmission Project, with related achievements winning multiple science and technology progress awards and engineering awards.
