Postdoctoral researcher in Environmental Sciences, University of Hull. Helena I. Gomes graduated in Environmental Engineering (2000), has a Masters in Geographical Information Systems and Science (2005) and a Ph.D. in Environment (2014). She worked six years in environmental consultancy and GIS project management. Helena also collaborated as program manager for a public company and was responsible for the environmental and radiological monitoring of uranium abandoned mines in Portugal. In her Ph.D., she worked with electrokinetic remediation coupled with zero valent iron nanoparticles in contaminated soils. Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Hull, in the UK Natural Environment Research Council-funded project "R3AW: Resource Recovery and Remediation of Alkaline Wastes".
