Rudelmar Bueno de Faria

General Secretary, ACT Alliance

Rudelmar Bueno de Faria is the General Secretary and CEO of ACT Alliance, a global coalition of 164 churches and faith-based organizations engaged in humanitarian, development, and advocacy work in more than 140 countries.

He has over 30 years of leadership experience with national and international non-governmental organizations, with a strong focus on humanitarian action, sustainable development, human rights, faith-based engagement, and multilateral cooperation. Before joining ACT Alliance, he served as the World Council of Churches Representative to the United Nations in New York and as Deputy Director of the Lutheran World Federation’s Department for World Service.

His academic background includes business administration, international relations, and foreign trade, complemented by postgraduate studies in diakonia and community development. He has also undertaken specialized training in international humanitarian law, human rights law, and related areas of international cooperation.

Rudelmar serves in several global advisory and governance roles, including as a member of the Steering Committee for Humanitarian Response, the Advisory Council of Faith-Based Organizations to the UN Interagency Task Force on Religion and Sustainable Development, the UN Steering Committee for the Implementation of the Plan of Action for Religious Leaders and Actors to Prevent Incitement to Violence, the Advisory Board of the Humanitarian Encyclopedia, and the NGO Working Group on the UN Security Council.
