This island nation banned fishing in an area of ocean the size of France | Pioneers for Our Planet

The Pacific island nation of Palau has banned fishing, mining and drilling in 80% of its waters, allowing stocks to replenish and overflow into surrounding marine areas. Today less than 8% of the world’s ocean is in marine protected areas, or MPAs.
